All of these views were taken in the new station area , with the waiting room coaches  and  the Main line Travelling Post Office coaches as a backdrop.

 Number 2.

This was the second engine to arrive on the CVMR. The locomotive is a petrol hydraulic    0-6-0 based on a narrow gauge prototype.  It was rebuilt by Pat Willis in 2005.

Tom.This locomotive is the workhorse of the CVMR. The engine is a petrol hydraulic steam ouline 0-4-2. This loco is big enough for the driver to sit inside the cab. Tom was originally built for the Manor Park Railway in Glossop, where we understand its sister is still based.

It was made by Ronald Kay in 1983.

Saffron

 Is our latest   0-4-0 Locomotive

It is 24 volt battery powered and can haul 3 coaches up our gradient. It was aquired during September from its previous owner in Shropshire.

CLASS 31 Styled Loco

This is the latest Loco, constructed from the Chassis of Hymec, and rebuilt by the Railways Owner. This 24 volt battery powered class 31 styled loco is at present under test, it utilises 4, 250 watt motors. It has been named Hedingham House.

We have installed PNP's New style Vacuum pump PNR-2E  The prototype of this pump is fitted into  No2 and Heddingham House has Serial no 00.  The New style pump is simple to operate and produces a good vacuum very quickly for the Train, at present we have 3 braked coaches, all  using PNP's actuation Kit (PNR-2D), and 3 twin composite  unbraked coaches, these will be having brakes added shortly.

Braking is applied on NO2 by a simple dump valve as the petrol Hydraulic has good speed control  and the brakes are only required  on the coaches during loco run arround, at the far end of our line.

Heddingham House,  a class31 styled  battery powered loco has  a 1/3 Scale Progresive brake valve with Lap, control and allows the brakes to be applied gently, as the battery powered loco's  electrical motor retardation can be rather sharp on lightly loaded trains, and conversly inefective on heavy trains, particularly on our inclined section of track.

 Visiting Locomotives

Hercules

This is a small but powerfull 0-4-0 live steam tank locomotive. This locomotive is privately owned and makes occasional visits to the CVMR

Romulus

This is a very powerfull 0-4-0 tender engine. The locomotive is based on a narrow gauge prototype. The locomotive is privately owned and makes occasional visits to the CVMR

Past Locomotives

 Hymek.

This was the first locomotive to arrive on the railway. The body was of wooden constuction and seated the driver and two passengers.

This loco previously ran at the Rode Woodland Railway near Bath which was a bird park. The powered chassis was we believe built by Mardkye in 1981 and the body by David Underhill who ran the line at Rode. Sadly it has had to be scrapped due to body rot, exhuast emmission problems and  a gearbox failure.

However its chassis lives on as part of the Class31 and the motion may resurface  after a  major overhual as another privatley owned loco.
